Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation | Educators & Other Professionals
This workshop begins with some basics, including the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity and definition of terms (gay, lesbian, pansexual, transgender, queer, etc.). We then discuss concrete steps that educators can take to create safe, inclusive, and comfortable learning environments for students of all genders and sexual orientations. Finally, we practice several activities that can be used with students to open up exploration and discussion of these topics.
