Separation and Identity: Clinical Considerations in Adolescent Treatment
-
12-1pm
Adolescence is one of the most transformative periods in our lives. Existing research on this stage of our lives has never been more descriptive and plentiful. This presentation will provide a useful conceptualization of the three stages of adolescent development by briefly reviewing clinical considerations, neuroscience, and empirical research. We’ll consider identity, separation, attachments, and repairs as clinical areas of focus when working with teens who are struggling with relationships, school issues, and family. We also will look at how feelings and thoughts shape adolescent internal and external life.
A list of selected readings will be provided at the conclusion of the presentation for use in your clinical practice with teens of all ages and to support your engagement with parents.
The Outpatient Behavioral Health Lunch and Learn Series is hosted virtually by 9 JCFS Chicago Clinicians from 12-1pm on a variety of topics. Each workshop offers 1 CEU. Register for the entire series or an individual session detailed above. $20 per individual session or $180 for the whole series.
