Luba wanted to find a job that she was passionate about, so she came to JVS Career & Employment for assistance in finding the perfect part-time job that aligned with her skills and career goals. Our Supported Employment Program (or SEP) helped Luba in her job search by providing her job coaching as well as breaking down the job search process step-by-step so that it was manageable for her to complete all job-related tasks.

Thinking back on her experience, Luba was effusive in her praise, “JVS Career & Employment changed my life and gave me confidence to live everyday life. It helped me overcome my issues of speaking to other people. I am now able to read out loud and present with confidence; it also made me more outgoing and social. I was able to successfully gain competitive employment with the help of my Employment Specialist."

When asked what encouragement she could offer other job seekers with disabilities who are looking for work, Luba said, "People can set their mind to achieve their goals regardless of their barriers. [JVS Career & Employment's] SEP can help people with disabilities find employment. If you are struggling, talk over the issues with your coach. Don’t give up because you will find something that you are good at and enjoy. It will help you gain skills and be a part of the community."
