Group Homes & Aggregate Foster Care
Sometimes a young adult faces a crisis that necessitates brief but intensive support away form home. While most young adults have a family or network of friends, some are less fortunate and find their support system is inadequate or unavailable. With the JCFS residential treatment program, young adults experiencing crisis live in a supportive, confidential and empowering environment.
The residential staff, at our five homes, provides the stability and case management support necessary for young adults who are ready to help themselves stabilize their lives. A former resident of the Rosenberg Group Home, states “When I was living at Rosenberg, there was always someone to talk to who made me feel understood.”
Our homes, all located in the West Rogers Park community in Chicago, treat children and adolescents with a wide range of clinical disorders, including mood disorders, ADHD, oppositional behaviors and developmental disorders. Each home has a master’s level clinician who provides individual, group and family therapy when appropriate.
We also assume an advocacy role within the larger systems, which affect the children and their families. We strive to provide multidisciplinary care, as each resident’s medical, educational, psychiatric and recreational needs are assessed and met through a combination of community and JCFS resources.
Our homes are divided into two categories, Group Homes and Aggregate Foster Homes. Residential Treatment at JCFS also includes participation in the Therapeutic Recreation program that serves all of the clients, establishing programs to meet the recreational goals of all of the children.
We receive financial support to subsidize the placement of Jewish children who need residential care. In addition, we accept appropriate referrals for residents with funding from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Illinois Department of Human Services and Illinois State Board of Education.
