The need for loving foster parents is great.
An increasing number of at-risk children in the Chicago area desperately need foster parents who can welcome, love and guide them toward reunification with their biological families/birth families.
Foster Parent Training & Licensing
Jewish Child & Family Services trains and supports individuals, couples and families who reside in the Cook County area and surrounding suburbs to become potential foster parents for children and youth who come to us through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). These children and youth may have a high degree of emotional, behavioral and/or medical problems.
We pride ourselves on our exceptional record of performance, consistently exceeding the expectations of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Our specialized foster care services include:
- Education Support
- Trauma-informed Therapeutic Services
- Extensive Case Management
- Nursing Consultation
- Support Services
- Foster care events for parents, such as Chicago Sky games and Common Threads Garden.
- Ongoing recruitment for new foster parents through community events and monthly information meetings
In addition to foster parents, we need champions for foster care who can make a difference as…
- an advocate
- a mentor
- a respite provider
- a life skills coach
